Teach with Sessions
Get your whole class on the free app, and earn 20% on every student who upgrades to Pro.
Your students already have the folder. A hundred half-named projects, bounces they can't find, samples that went missing when they moved a laptop. Sessions turns that folder into a real library, BPM and key detected, every bounce playable without opening Live, and it teaches the habit you're already teaching: keep the work in order.
The part that makes it an easy thing to put in front of a class: it's free, with unlimited projects and no account. No budget request, no license admin, no seats to hand out. Every student installs it on day one and watches it read their own projects back to them. You earn when the ones who are serious decide Pro is worth it.
The program is the same one creators use. Lemon Squeezy enrolls you, gives you a tracking link and a dashboard, and handles payouts. This page is just the version of it written for a classroom.
Ways to run a class on it
Everything here is in the app today, nothing is a roadmap. Most of it is the free app plus a free account; the two parts that need the Cloud + A&R subscription say so.
- Be a friend to the whole class. Share your friend code on day one. Each student adds you, you accept each one, and from then on every student is one click away inside the app. Friends is free for everyone.
- See who is in the studio right now. Each student chooses whether friends can see when they're in the app or in their DAW, and can switch it off at any moment. With it on, you glance at your friends list during a lab hour and know who's actually in Live. It's a live signal only: the app keeps no record of when anyone worked, so there is nothing to hold against a student later.
- Be the collaborator on every project. A student stages a project in the Collab Queue and attaches you. It shows up on your side with its artwork, BPM, key, length and status, so you can follow what each student is working on across a term without ever asking for a folder. Being attached never moves a file: the student's project stays on the student's machine. Staging needs the Cloud + A&R subscription on the student's side; the collaborator side is free.
- Give notes against the moment you mean. A student sends you a listen link: a web page that plays their bounce with its waveform, no account and no app needed on your end. You write a note at the second you're hearing, and it lands in the student's app under Notes from friends on that project, with your name on it. Sending a link needs the subscription; listening and leaving notes is free for anyone with a browser.
- Know before class whether a session opens on the lab machines. Export the lab's plugin list as a Plugin Passport once and hand it out. A student compares against it at home and sees exactly which devices the school computer is missing, so "it won't open here" stops eating the first ten minutes of every lesson. Works the other way too: a student who switches on plugin-list sharing has the overlap against your own machine worked out on their profile.
One rule runs through all of it: the student holds every switch. Presence, plugin list and studio numbers are off until they turn them on, being added as a collaborator uploads nothing, and a listen link plays the track rather than handing over the file. That's deliberate. A tool a class feels watched by is one they drop the day the course ends, and the point is the habit outlasting the course.
How it works
- Apply. Takes a minute. Applications are read by a person, not auto-approved, this is one independent developer's product and it matters who's teaching with it. Expect a reply within a few days.
- Put your class on the free app. The moment you're approved you get your own link and a discount code. Drop them wherever your students already are: the syllabus, your LMS, the class Discord, a slide at the end of a lesson.
- Earn on the upgrades. 20% of every Pro sale through your link, tracked and paid out automatically once your balance passes $10. No invoicing, no chasing, no keys to manage.
What you get as an instructor
- A free Pro key to teach with. So you're demonstrating the real thing in class, not a screenshot. Ask for it when you apply.
- A discount code for your students. 10% or 20% off, your choice, so the upgrade is an easy call for a student budget.
- One combined link that applies the discount and credits you at the same time. That's the one to share.
The honest math
Pro is a one-time $44, not a subscription, so it's one commission per student, not a recurring cut. Here's what a single upgrade earns you at each discount you might offer:

Straight version: this is a nice perk for a class or a department, not a revenue center. The free app is genuinely most of what a learning producer needs, and that's on purpose. Pro is the power tools and the demo-submission tracker, for the students who are past the basics and starting to send music out. Pitch it to those students and it converts; push it on a room of beginners and it won't, and you'll have burned goodwill you didn't need to.
Want to cover the whole class yourself?
Bulk and reseller licenses aren't something we sell yet. Pro keys are one-time with a small per-person device limit, built for one producer and their machines, not for a roster of students who reinstall every semester. Setting that up badly would mean students locked out mid-course, and that's the opposite of helpful.

Who it fits
Music-production schools and bootcamps, course creators, Ableton Certified Trainers, and anyone teaching one-to-one. Sessions is Ableton-first, so it fits best where your students are working in Live. Core features work with FL Studio, Logic, REAPER and Studio One too, but the deepest ones are Live's, pitch it to the room you actually have.
